Great, I have this wonderful opportunity to appear on television naked. In Hamburg, the SJ-editor Hanna spoke with Huge Game of Thrones-star Emilia Clarke about her nude scenes, the horses ate heart, the book series and the sometimes negative criticism from fans.
Every fan wants to know from you whether you to the books, Game of Thrones "by George RR Martin've read?
Yeah, right. I even knew of the books before I went to the audition. I read the first volume, however, just before the second round. I only had about a week and then have as much research as possible to operate. But I was totally hooked by the story immediately.
Some performers have even cheated and read only the chapters that include their character.
(Laughs) Of course, I read everything, not just my chapter. One must realize, of course, the whole mood of the book. I try before each season with each book deal with. So the first before the first season, then I waited until just before the second with the second and now just before the shooting the third season, I'm sort of in book three and four. I do not know too much in advance.
Was it the intense preoccupation with the character of Daenerys Targaryen easier for you to slip into the role or is it sometimes may even be detrimental, so much to know about the character?
Every actor has his own approach of course. However, I must say that I liked it a lot easier to know the novels and me so prepare for the character. Dany is just the beginning as little more accessible, and only the books deliver such a good foundation to learn everything possible about this character and to find out. Martin delivers just so much information that was helpful for me.
You may already have hit him?
Oh yes, I've been allowed to meet him several times and he is just wonderful.
Was he proud of your performance, how you interpret Daenerys in the series?
Yes, I think he liked it. I've heard at least nothing to the contrary (laughs).
How is that for you to participate in such a large international production? You had before the first season, so just finished drama school.
It's fantastic! It blew me away completely. And it does even now. There is still so much for me to learn and deal things that I need to learn.
